A Bridge to a View:
Tensegrity Bridge

This proposal utilizes the lightness and tensile strength of steel to create a bridge composed of thin steel members without imposing upon the river below. The tensegrity structure provides rigid- ity to the walkway and aesthetically contrasts the heavy nature of the sheer rock face. The modu- lar structural system extends above and below the walkway demonstrating both the versatility and potential for long uninterrupted spans which only tensegrity designs achieve. It also allows for the structure to pass underneath the centralized viewing platform over the river to enable uninterrupted sitelines and achieve a unique sculptural form.
