The Harvie Horizon is situated within the boundaries of the Harvie Passage, the heart of the Bow River in Calgary, Alberta. It entirely spans near the end of the passage, around the island that distincts the north and south channels. The Bow River holds great historical significance, allowing the bridge to extend its site development, attracting more visitors to attend outdoor gatherings, while connecting with the water of the river. The Harvie Horizon includes two major curves that are designed to surround each channel, facing it with a theater-style seating. The bridge may function as an area for a rest after a swim or an audience viewing occurring water sports. The bridge further provides a safe circulation throughout as the north channel is considered highly dangerous. As the access to the island is the midpoint of the bridge, it allows the visitors to gain a deeper connection with the water of both channels at once, encouraging the site to further grow outdoor events and gathering spaces on the island. The overall form of the Harvie Horizon itself ultimately allows the Harvie Passage to emerge as an elegant landscape, redefining the relationship between the rapids of the passage and the steady flow of the Bow River.
