Located on 1 Madawaska Street, Bancroft, Ontario, the Bancroft Residence Hub sets a leading model for sustainable design and practice in the town of Bancroft. This project relies on a series of systems that work together to enrich the community of residence and the town of Bancroft, achieving net zero. First, locally grown produce is farmed in the greenhouses to be sold in the produce market or transformed into baked goods and snacks in the community kitchen. Second, perishables from the cafe and waste from residential units are recycled into compost machines, converting compost into fertilizer to be used in the greenhouse. Furthermore, rainwater, floodwater, and gray water storage and treatment are processed on-site, acting as a self-sufficient water supply and irrigation mechanism. Finally, the building's design applies passive heating and cooling principles to go hand in hand with solar power, conserving energy.

The greenhouse and community kitchen act as spaces for gathering, education, and production, furthering communal enhancement and giving back to the community. The three spaces are connected through a linear continuation from the park on the east to the river on the west, enhanced by the 1.5m setback on the front. This navigates flow from the sidewalk and allows passers to interact with the spaces, especially during the summer. Terraced spaces provide shelter during the winter and create varying levels of privacy throughout the building. Furthermore, this enhances the corner condition as it allows for the extension of the produce market into an outdoor market.

The Bancroft Residential Hub operates as a "hub" for its residents and the entire town of Bancroft, giving back to the community and leading by example in achieving net zero water and energy to show Bancroft that it can be a leader.
