Alt +

Vivian Kinuthia

Alt+ explores a future in which political and socio-economic revolutions have ended capitalism and instated universal basic income, while abundance and equality have rendered traditional ideas of “work” obsolete. With a focus on environment and lifestyle, Alt+ transports you to a technology powered age where humans have ameliorated their relationship with their ecological surroundings and have successfully deployed robots to learn, design, produce, and build to meet human needs. An answer to the question of “how people structure and live their lives” is attempted through the representation of a eutopic future where ease of life challenges individuals to pursue their intellectual and recreational passions, “giving what they can” to society while “taking what they need”. Social peace is maintained through conventionalized individual expression of identity, cultural exchanges in the arts, and cosmopolitanism. Significant innovations in virtual, augmented, and mixed realities makes technology a vehicle for exploring personal and collective pursuits.
